World Book Day 2024
For World Book Day, 2024 we aimed to raise funds for our partner charity Dream Drops, as well as some library equipment, a cause in keeping with the theme of the day!
One of our hopes is to continue to raise enough money to purchase a reading chair. The chair in question has been chosen by one of our year 8 pupils, who is fundraising individually to support the goal. We are here to support the dream and are fundraising alongside with a passion to support this effort.
We look forward to Literacy Lead Claire Heseltine's costumes every time, as she has delighted us with a myriad of fun costumes previously, and this year she did not disappoint as the Big, Bad Wolf - AS Grandma!
A huge shout-out goes to the entire team of staff for their efforts also. We had Little Red Riding Hoods, wicked witches and a fully-fledged tiger patrolling the school halls on the day.
Days like this are an opportunity in the school calendar for our pupils and staff to share their love of reading as well as inspiring a love of reading, alongside promoting a focus on literacy skills and development.
A range of activities on the day included fancy dress - as a literary character, story telling, a sponsored read throughout March, and a quiz that we implore you to take part in and send in your answers. A bookmark design competition and if that isn't enough, staff and pupils were invited to bring in their favourite books to inspire each other.
